PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast-coated paper resistant to fading, and having good releasability from a cast drum, high print strength and high gloss, and a method for producing the cast-coated paper. SOLUTION: The cast-coated paper is cast-treated by a rewetting process comprising application of a cast-coating liquid containing a pigment and an aqueous adhesive to a surface of a base paper to form a cast-coated layer, drying of the layer, rewetting of the dried surface of the cast-coated layer, pressing with a cast drum having a specular gloss and drying of the product, wherein the cast-coated layer contains soybean protein as the aqueous adhesive and further contains formic acid.
