PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compacted charcoal inhibiting indeterminate form, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The method for producing the compacted charcoal 1 includes a step of compacting a body 3, and a step of carbonizing the body 3. The method includes, before the carbonization step, a step of forming through-holes 2 to discharge pyrolysis gas generated in the body 3 during the carbonization step.
