PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating compressor which achieves high assembly precision of components, prevents gas leakage from a discharge valve, and prevents a dead space which degrades volume efficiency of gas. SOLUTION: The reciprocating compressor includes: a cylinder member 2 having gas inflow ports 2aL, 2aR on both sides and a gas outflow port 2b in a center; a one-side movable valve 31L arranged on one side from the gas outflow port 2b; an other-side movable valve 31R arranged on the other side from the outflow port 2b; a one-side fixed valve 41L arranged on a downstream side of the one-side movable valve and on an upstream side of the outflow port; a one-side compression expansion chamber S1 formed between the one-side movable valve and the one-side fixed valve; an other-side fixed valve 41R arranged on a downstream side of the other-side movable valve 31R and on an upstream side of the outflow port 2b; an other-side compression expansion chamber S2 formed between the other-side fixed valve and other-side movable valve; and a piston rod 32 for connecting the one-side movable valve 31L and other-side movable valve 31R.
