<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin excellent in light resistance, transparency, hue, heat resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical strengths. <P>SOLUTION: The polycarbonate resin containing at least a structural unit originated from a dihydroxy compound having a site represented by formula (1) in one part of the structure is characterized in that the yellow index (YI) value based on ASTM D1925-70 and measured with transmitted light is≤12, after a molded article (thickness: 3 mm) molded from the polycarbonate resin is irradiated with a metal halide lamp with an irradiation illumination of 1.5 kW/m<SP>2</SP>in a wavelength of 300 to 400 nm for 100 hrs in an environment having a relative humidity of 50% at 63°C.
