PURPOSE: A step counter in communication with a heart rate and an exercise information providing method using the same are provided to offer exact exercise speed information outside in communication with a heart rate and a step counter. CONSTITUTION: A heart rate measuring unit(110) measures a heart rate through a heart rate measuring sensor. A step number measuring unit(120) measures a step number through a step number measuring sensor. In order that a user can manage an individual exercise outside, a microprocessor(170) creates exercise speed information based on the measured heart rate and step number. The microprocessor provides the exercise speed information to the user.
