The center has a rotatably driven workpiece table (1) mounted in a bridge support (3). Balancing weights (4) are designed in an external geometric shape, such that the weights are movably guided into a circular receiving-groove (6), a contact surface (22) of each weight is pressed against an edge of an undercut (7) of the groove and the weights are secured from being dropped out in horizontal and vertical directions. The weights in the groove are movable in an angular position preset by a controlling and regulating device (14) and are fixed in the groove in a force-fit or form-fit manner.
