PURPOSE: A multi-stage former mold and a design method for the same are provided to ensure improved strength because a reinforcing ring is fitted to the exterior of an insert. CONSTITUTION: A design method for a multi-stage former mold comprises steps of: inputting information about the material, dimension and tolerance of a cold forged product(S100), converting the information into numeric data suitable for design(S110), testing the availability of cold forging(S120), selecting a proper one of drawings created considering the procedure, the number of processes, the forming load, formability, and strain(S130), and automatically creating a mold drawing by carrying out the design of a reinforcing ring and the division of a die using the profile information of the final process in order to increase the maximum permissible internal pressure of a mold(S140).
