PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column device reducing the expansion amount in the telescopic direction of a steering shaft when a large load is input into a steering wheel, and surely preventing the movement in the telescopic direction after telescopic motion. SOLUTION: By the turning operation of a fastening bolt 7 to a lock side, the energizing force of a coil spring 15 displaces a movable piece 12 and a movable side tooth 12A and a fixed side tooth 11 are engaged with each other, and also the axial force of the fastening bolt 7 brings a distance bracket 6 into pressure contact with a vehicle body mounting bracket 5 and restrains in a telescopic direction. By the turning operation of the fastening bolt 7 to an unlock side, a releasing projection provided in a projecting manner on a disengaging plate 14 presses the movable piece 12, and the engagement of the movable side tooth 12A and the fixed side tooth 11 is released, and also the axial force of the fastening bolt 7 is released and the pressure contact of the vehicle body mounting bracket 5 with the distance bracket 6 is released, then the restraint in the telescopic direction is released.
