PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device and an image forming device having excellent convenience for users while preventing occurrence of jamming on a document conveying passage at the time before conveying documents. SOLUTION: A multi-functional machine has an automatic document conveying device 30. A document conveying mechanism unit conveys documents set on a document tray 40 to a discharged document storage part 50 via a reading position R. When passing the reading position R, the multi-functional machine reads an image of the document by a scanning unit 15. The document tray 40 is turnably and pivotally supported by a tray turning shaft 43 in a vicinity of a downstream side end 42. When documents of the predetermined number or more are set in the document tray 40, the downstream side end 42 of the document tray 40 is turned upwardly to separate the documents from a suction roller 71 of the document conveying mechanism unit. In this condition, the multi-functional machine executes the document reading prohibition processing based on the result of detection of the tray sensor 44. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
