PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which gives a fiber reinforced composite material suitable as structural materials, and to provide a prepreg thereof. SOLUTION: The epoxy resin composition, including at least an epoxy resin represented by formula (1) (wherein Ar represents a 6-20C aromatic group), a curing agent, and a thermoplastic resin, has such physical properties that a cured product, obtained by curing the resin composition under a predetermined condition (autoclave molding, pressure: 0.49 MPa, temperature: 180°C, and time: 120 min), has a flexural modulus of 3.0 GPa or higher and a flexural strength of 130 MPa or higher when measured under room temperature condition (25°C and 50% RH).
