PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation stopping structure and method for a multistory parking system, which can easily switch between operation and stop. SOLUTION: In the operation stopping structure for the multistory parking system 1, an upper pallet 9 is supported by supporting members 41 provided on the upper ends of supports 4, so that the upper pallet 9 itself serves as the ground surface G, whereby the operation of the system can be stopped in a state comparable with the case of backfilling a pit P. Since the upper pallet 9 as the ground surface G is supported by the supports 4 through the supporting members 41, the strength is sufficiently secured. Restart of the operation of the system can be carried out only by detaching the supporting members 41 from the supports 4 to allow easy switching between operation and stop. The upper pallet 9 is supported by the supporting members 41 through contact members 42, whereby the operation stop can be carried out while maintaining the existing structure of the multistory parking system 1 to improve the versatility of the operation stopping structure.
