PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic motor which can obtain a large output with a lubricant interposed between a stator and a mover. SOLUTION: In the electrostatic motor in which the stator 2 and mover 3 having a plurality of films 20, 30 which oppose each other are accommodated inside a case 5 with the lubricant 4 interposed therebetween, and which drives the mover 3, on the basis of electrostatic power generated by the application of alternate currents of a plurality of phases, the electrostatic motor is constituted in such a manner that a large number of band-shaped electrodes in which at least one of the stator 2 and the mover 3, which vertically extend respectively is applied with the alternate current are arranged so that they are aligned vertically, the mover 3 has a connecting part 320 which connects the plurality of films 30 at an upper end thereof; an output shaft 33 is coupled to the connecting part 320; the lubricant 4 is accommodated in the case so that at least a half of the electrodes on the stator film is immersed in the lubricant with an amount that allows an upper space 55 to remain in the case 5; and the mover 3 allows the connecting part 320 to escape into the upper space 55 at least at a rising position in vertical movement.
