<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake determination system for early and correct determination of an earthquake, and a method of analyzing the earthquake. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of observation terminal devices dispersively installed over random regions and an earthquake analysis processor are connected via a communication network. Upon reception, from the plurality of observation terminal devices, of estimated primary wave detection information transmitted when detection of an earthquake primary wave is estimated from oscillation waveform information output from a seismometer, the earthquake analysis processor obtains, for at least two pairs of observation terminal devices, a distance D and a difference δ in detection times between the observation terminal devices from the detection time and installation position information of the estimated earthquake primary waves included in each pair of the estimated primary wave detection information, and determines that an earthquake occurs when both of two pairs of observation terminal devices satisfy 2D<SB>SL</SB><D and δ<D/S<SB>P</SB>+Δt where D<SB>SL</SB>refers to a transmission limit distance of local oscillation energy, S<SB>P</SB>refers to the minimum propagation speed of the earthquake primary wave, and Δt refers to the maximum detection error between the detection times of a pair of observation terminal devices. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
