PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing 2,4,4-trimethyl-2',4',7-trihydroxyflavan. SOLUTION: The method for producing the 2,4,4-trimethyl-2',4',7-trihydroxyflavan by reacting resorcin with acetone in the presence of an acid catalyst includes using the 2,4,4-trimethyl-2',4',7-trihydroxyflavan having 70-90% of purity as a seed crystal.
