<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing unit and an image forming apparatus capable of improving durability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a roller provided with a hollow cylindrical body with a heating body therein, and a rotation transmission element which is arranged surrounding the cylindrical body for transmitting the rotation of a drivesection to the roller. In addition, the cylindrical body and the rotation transmission element are engaged in an engagement sections which are formed in a plurality of places in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical body and the rotation transmission element. Since the cylindrical body and the rotation transmission element are engaged in the engagement sections which are formed in the plurality of places in the circumferential direction of the cylindrical body and the rotation transmission element, a contact area between the cylindrical body and the rotation transmission element can be made great even if the cylindrical body is formed thin.
