Process comprising reduction of metal oxides with carbon or carbides of elements concerned according to the parent patent is improved in that the reduction is carried out under a protective gas or in vacuum, in one or two stages. The process is relatively simple and suitable for introduction of small amts. of e.g. grain-refining additives or recrystallisation temp. modifiers. Electrodes for electrolytic capacitors or sintered anodes can be obtd.
