The device has a roller (1) pressing a sealing thread (2) with its circumferential surface (4) against a seat (5) and connecting the thread sequentially with a vehicle body. A guide secures the sealing thread against displacement on a circumferential surface towards a roller rotational axis. A guide rail is formed for engagement into a groove (7) in the pressed condition at the sealing thread by a material lug. A channel runs in a circumferential surface of the roller. A guide groove is formed for receiving an annular projection. An independent claim is also included for a method for fastening a sealing thread.
