PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for directly forming a metal film having good adhesiveness on a base material as a prism, although so-called a Kretschmann arrangement in which a metal film is deposited on a prism is used in a measurement utilizing a surface plasmon resonance for the trace-amount detection of a biomolecule, and to provide an element produced by the method. SOLUTION: A production method of an element in which a thin film of a transition metal or its alloy is formed on a base material 20 includes a process for exposing a film deposition surface of the base material 20 to an ion atmosphere of a metal to be deposited before film deposition.
