[Also in Division F4] A method of manufacturing a sheet metal panel radiator, said radiator having spaced manifolds which extend along the panel and are interconnected by ducts with external heatdissipating ribs fixed to at least one of the metal sheets, comprises separating the material for the ribs by a stamping machine 15 from a strip 14, and feeding the material at right angles to the feeding direction of the metal sheets 11 which run from a strip roll 12 through a press 13 in the direction in which the manifolds are to be formed; the ribs being positioned by automatic grippers 16 and fixed to the metal sheets in rhythmic synchronism with the stepwise pressing of the sheets to form the manifolds and ducts. The sheets after being cut to the desired length by a shear 17, are alternately slid and turned so that two inner surfaces of the sheets come together at 19 to be welded. The ribs may alternatively be fed in the same direction as the metal sheets. |
