<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic equipment with a variable resistance device that has an input means for scrolling and zooming in and out on a screen without directly touching the screen of the electronic equipment, thereby preventing the screen from becoming dirty and scratched and facilitating operation to an image. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic equipment 1 with the variable resistance device includes a display unit 11 for image display and input units 20, 21 provided at both sides to interpose a specific part 13 of a body 10. The input unit can be pressed inward in a direction toward and away from the specific part 13, and changes the resistance thereof in accordance with the pressed position. A control unit detects a change in the resistance of the input units, and determines whether both the input units are operated in a direction toward the specific part 13 or in a direction away from the specific part 13. When the input unit is operated in the direction toward the specific part, the control unit performs either one processing of zooming in or zooming out.
