Production of reserve image by polymerisation of a vinyl monomer containing a salt of a diazotized primary amine, which when exposed to light becomes electro-conducting, and releases initiator to polymerise the vinyl monomer. - A is a glass sheet coated with a conducting layer B (e.g. tin oxide), C is photoconducting layer (e.g. ZnO, ZnS) D is vinyl monomer containing the amine salt and E is electroconducting support. An electric current is connected to B and E, creating a potential difference in the layers. When photoconducting layer is exposed to light the potential difference between B and E is increased in proportion to the light intensity, catalytic initiator is released and vinyl monomer is polymerised.
