PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forging apparatus which can improve productivity by preventing jumping of a work. SOLUTION: The forging apparatus includes a die 10 having a forming cavity 11 and a punch to press a work disposed in the forming cavity 11. The forging apparatus exerts warm forging or hot forging on the work disposed in the forming cavity 11, after applying water-soluble lubricant whose water content vaporizes at heat during forging process in the cavity 11. In the forming cavity 11, an undercut recess 15 is arranged in order to restrict jumping of the work which is caused by vaporizing of water content of the water-soluble lubricant.
