PURPOSE: A counterflow type cooling tower with improved cooling efficiency is provided to cut off noise by allowing cooilng water passing through filler to flow along a noise prevention unit. CONSTITUTION: A counterflow type cooling tower with improved cooling efficiency comprises filler, a water tub, and a noise prevention device. Cooling water passing through the filler is collected in the water tub. The noise prevention device is located under the filler and has one or more noise prevention units, a preliminary water collecting member, and support members(123). The preliminary water collecting member has one or more through holes(129). The support members are extended from the bottom of the through holes and have flow resistance units(210).
