PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for encoding and decoding a 3D video are provided to correct depth map distortion. CONSTITUTION: A 3D video encoding apparatus includes a transition position calculation unit(440), a quantization unit(450), and a coding unit(460). The transition position calculation unit calculates a depth transition for each pixel position according to the change of the point. The quantization unit quantizes the position of the calculated depth transition. The coding unit codes the quantized depth transition position.
