<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: in a conventional charger, if a power supply is cut off in the middle of uploading a firmware to a digital camera, uploading fails and the digital camera gets out of order. <P>SOLUTION: When it is determined that the latest firmware is not recorded in the camera 4 in a process S23, and it is also determined that the remaining power of a backup power supply 12 is sufficient to transmit the latest firmware to the camera 4 in a process S25, a process to transmit the latest firmware to the camera 4 is carried out. When power is not supplied from an external power supply 3, power is supplied to a cradle 1 from the backup power supply 12 in lieu of the external power supply 3.
