<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently removing impurities included in an amide compound-containing liquid, especially an amide compound-containing liquid produced by a hydration reaction of a nitrile compound using microorganismic cells containing nitrile hydratase or a treated product of the microorganismic cells. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for purifying an amide compound, the amide compound-containing liquid is brought into contact with activated carbon having a specific surface area of 800 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or more.
