<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that makes the flow of a molten metal smooth in a runner lead into a cavity from a sleeve. <P>SOLUTION: In a casting apparatus 2, the runner 8 extended from a tip end of the sleeve 10 toward a sleeve lateral is formed. The runner 8 is lead to the cavity of a metallic mold from the sleeve 10. In the casting apparatus 2, the width of a runner opening 19 gradually decreases toward the outer side of the sleeve 10 from an interior space of the sleeve when viewing the runner opening 19 facing the interior space of the sleeve in a cross-section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the sleeve 10. The runner opening 19 is formed so that the width of a flow passage of the molten metal gradually decreases, thereby controlling the generation of a turbulent flow.
