<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resuscitator for bringing an automatic oppression on a patient by using an oppression belt capable of making an even compression on the entire pleural cavity. <P>SOLUTION: The resuscitator as a belt 64 made to be expandable around a thoracic part of the patient 80 includes: the belt characterized by a running-out portion and a winding portion; a spool 68 that is operably connected to the belt and winds/loosens the belt thereon to thereby have an effect on the lengths of running/winding portions; a motor that is connected to the spool and rotates the spool to thereby tighten up the belt around the thoracic part of the patient; a controller for controlling the motor; and a pressure detector that is located between the belt and the patient, detects a pressure of the belt applied to the thoracic part when the belt is tightened up, and can transmit a signal in concert with the belt pressure applied to the thoracic part.
