<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light-emitting device which is capable of efficiently utilizing light, suppressing light leakage, and reducing costs with excellent handleability. <P>SOLUTION: A planar light-emitting device 1 comprises: a sheet substrate 2; a core layer 3 formed in a partial region of a surface 2a of the sheet substrate 2; and a light source 4 for introducing light into the core layer 3.
