The method involves heating exhaust gases by a turbocompressor (18) when a positive ignition thermal engine (10) functions at less load, where the turbocompressor includes a turbine (25) and a compressor (17). The exhaust gases are compressed and heated by the turbine. An operation of the turbocompressor is reversed at less loads, where an usual inlet (16) of the compressor is taken as an outlet and an usual outlet (21) of the compressor is taken as an inlet. A usual inlet (24) of the turbine is taken as an outlet and an usual outlet (27) of the turbine is taken as an inlet. An independent claim is also included for a device for increasing temperature of exhaust gases in a positive ignition thermal engine.
