<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform heating of waste liquid with lower power consumption, the heating being performed in order to eliminate the need for replacement of a waste liquid tank or extend a replacement cycle of the waste liquid tank. <P>SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus includes: an image recording portion 109 that performs recording on a recording sheet by ejecting an ink liquid from nozzles; a main scanning motor 9 that moves the image recording portion 109; a motor drive portion 111 that drives the main scanning motor 9; the waste liquid tank 113 that stores the waste ink ejected from the nozzles; a heater 114 that heats the waste ink; a switch 115 that electrically connects the main scanning motor 9 to either the motor drive portion 111 or the heater 114; and a system control section 200 that allows the switch 115 to connect the main scanning motor 9 to the heater 114 when the image recording part 109 becomes a state from a moving state into a decelerating or stopping state.
