PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means for generating a new image, which is rich in visual taste, by extracting a main subject image and a background image and performing appropriate image processing.

SOLUTION: The image processing system includes: an acquisition section which acquires the information of a target image to be processed; a creating section which creates information indicating the distribution of at least one of a subject and background in the target image, based on the target image; a first extraction section which extracts a main subject image from each of a plurality of the target images based on the information for each of a plurality of the target images; a second extraction section which extracts a background image from arbitrary single piece of the target image out of a plurality of the target images based on the information for each of a plurality of the target images; and a generating section which generates a new image based on at least one of at least single piece of the main subject image extracted by the first extraction section and the background image extracted by the second extraction section.
