APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INTRA PREDICTION ENCODING/DECODING BASED ON SELECTIVE MULTI-PATH PREDICTIONS

PURPOSE: An adaptive intra prediction encoding/decoding device through selective multi prediction and a method thereof are provided to adaptively and selectively perform secondary image prediction about a block which is difficult to be compressed. CONSTITUTION: A primary intra predicting unit(210) generates a directivity prediction block about a current block. A prediction accuracy calculating unit(220) calculates accuracy for predicting the directivity prediction block. A secondary prediction determining unit(230) determines secondary prediction. A motion level predicting unit(240) searches the most similar block from a set search area around the current block. An encoding cost calculating and comparing unit(250) compares calculated encoding costs with encoding costs of performed intra prediction. An intra prediction encoding unit(260) performs conversion, quantization, and entropy encoding of residual blocks.
