The appliance has a board (4) that is adapted to be heated from bottom by combustion flames of fuel e.g. gelled or liquid bioethanol, contained in a container (12). The container projects from a base (10) against which the board rests. A shroud (8) rests on the base of the container and surrounds the container to delimit a combustion chamber when the board rests on the shroud. The shroud is made of a metal sheet that comprises air intake holes (26) having determined diameter to allow passage of air toward interior of the chamber and block passage of the flames toward exterior of the chamber.
