<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for enabling a low power state of an electro-optic display. <P>SOLUTION: An electro-optic display comprises: a bistable electro-optic medium; a plurality of pixel electrodes accompanied by a non-linear element; and common electrodes arranged at the opposite side of the electro-optic medium. This display has: a write-in mode in which at least two different voltages are applied to different pixel electrodes; and a non-write-in mode in which the voltages applied to these pixel electrodes are controlled so that an image previously written in the electro-optic medium is maintained substantially. This display is constituted so that a first voltage V<SB POS="POST">COM</SB>(102) is applied to the common electrode in the case of the write-in mode, and a second voltage V<SB POS="POST">SM</SB>(104) different from the first voltage is applied to the common electrode in the case of the non-write-in mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
