<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light amount adjustment device and an imaging apparatus supplying detection means that is necessary and sufficient for a light amount adjustment device and capable of detecting an open position for a shielding member and a standby positions of two members to be driven by the detection means. <P>SOLUTION: The light amount adjustment device includes: a top side rotary plate 103 and a bottom side rotary plate 104 which are rotated and driven around an optical axis; a plurality of diaphragm blades 107 capable of being displaced between a stop-down position and an open position; a photoreflector 109; and a photo interrupter 110. The photoreflector 109 detects that the top side rotary plate 103 and the bottom side rotary plate 104 are in the standby positions.
