<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine the timing of toner supply for a developing unit in an image forming apparatus in which toner is supplied from a toner container to the developing unit. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus including a toner cartridge for supplying a developer to a developing unit and a developing part for developing an electrostatic latent image, which comprises: a detection part 202 for detecting the temperature in the device; a threshold correction part 203 which determines a threshold in order to determine that the developer is required to be supplied to the developing unit on the basis of the temperature in the device; a toner residual amount detecting part 204 which determines whether the developer is required to be supplied on the basis of a comparison result between the residual amount of the developer obtained based on the detection result of an optical sensor and the determined threshold; and a toner supply part 205 for controlling a supply of the developer from the toner cartridge to the developing unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
