<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which corrects image distortion without size reduction of a projected image. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 100 comprises: a light source 140a; an optical modulator 130 which comprises a pixel region composed of plural pixels and modulates light emitted to the pixel region from the light source 140a on the basis of image data; a projection optical system 150 which projects the light modulated by the optical modulator 130; and a corrected image generating part 122e which generates, on the basis of the image data, corrected image data expanded in a manner that part of the image is out of the pixel region and having the distortion of a projected image corrected.
