PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new pyridinone compound having a trifluoromethyl group.SOLUTION: A new pyridinone compound having a trifluoromethyl group is obtained by reacting an iodinated pyridinone compound, copper halide and (trifluoromethyl)trimethylsilane using at least one salt selected from the group consisting of potassium fluoride, cesium fluoride and tert-butoxypotassium.
