PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that is configured to reduce down time to the minimum that occurs while frequent occurrence of paper jam due to defective sheet separation by fixing means.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a control unit that controls, when the same image information is successively stored in a jam image recording memory, respective operations of an image forming unit, a paper feed and conveyance unit, and a fixing unit, so as to perform a jam avoidance mode including the steps of: causing the jam image recording memory to store the image information as jam frequent occurrence image information; passing, when outputting an image based on the jam frequent occurrence image information to a sheet after recovery from the paper jam, the sheet on which a toner image is not transferred through the fixing unit at least once, and subsequently forming a toner image by the image forming unit on the basis of the jam frequent occurrence image information; transferring the toner image formed by the image forming unit onto the sheet on which the toner image is not transferred having water content reduced by being passed through the fixing unit; and heating to fix the toner image by the fixing unit. |
