PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frictional resistance alleviating apparatus for a ship which prevents sticking of marine creatures thereto, and a method of preventing marine creatures from sticking to the friction resistance alleviating apparatus for the ship. SOLUTION: The frictional resistance alleviating apparatus 20 for the ship includes an air jetting device 30 which jets air from air blowouts 31 to 33 formed on a submerged portion 13 of a hull 10 into water, an air recovery device 40 which recovers air jet out of the air blowouts 31 to 33 through air recovery ports 41 to 43 formed on a ship bottom 13 of the hull 10 and sends the recovered air into the hull 10, and an air supply source 90 which supplies air from the interior of the hull 10 into the air recovery device 40.
