PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing spontaneous ignition and dusting in a coal pile in a coal yard, sprays a spray liquid containing algae onto the surface of the coal pile or the surface of coal in the chute of a transfer building in coal hoisting and transporting facilities so as to suppress air ventilation to the coal pile by the algae adhering to the surface of the coal and water in the spray liquid, and prevent oxidation of the coal, thereby preventing deterioration of quality and spontaneous ignition and also preventing dusting. SOLUTION: In the method for preventing the spontaneous ignition and dusting in the coal pile in the coal yard, concentration of the algae in the spray liquid to be sprayed to the coal pile in the coal yard is set to 0.5 myriad to 1×10<SP POS="POST">5</SP>myriad cells/mL.
