PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion battery having the function of easing the deformation of an airtight container accompanied by the rise in internal pressure owing to gas components including CO and COgenerated in the battery in the event of abnormality or in long-term use.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolytic lithium ion battery E comprises: a positive electrode terminal 1; a negative electrode terminal 2; a battery case 3; and an electrode body 10 enclosed in the battery case 3. The electrode body 10 has a positive electrode current collector 11 and positive electrode plates 12, and a negative electrode current collector 13 and negative electrode plates 14. The electrode body has a structure in which positive electrode plate 12 and the corresponding negative electrode plate 14 are laminated through a separator 15. The lithium ion battery E further comprises an adsorbent for absorbing CO and COwhich is provided in the battery case 3. As the adsorbent, LSX type, X type, or A type zeolite may be used. Especially, A type zeolite ion-exchanged with Ca ions is preferable because it is reusable even if the gas adsorbability is lowered as a result of moisture adsorption by the gas adsorbent. |
