PURPOSE:To obtain the title oil-water separator of simple structure capable of being easily maintained by successively providing the first vessel used as the water receiving and settling vessel, the second vessel separated from the first vessel by a straightening plate, and succeeding vessels which are separated respectively from the preceding vessel by a filter. CONSTITUTION:The oil-water separator is separated into six filter vessels. The first vessel 1 functions as the solid-liq. separation vessel, and is separated from the second vessel by a straightening plate 11. The second vessel and the succeeding vessels function mainly as the oil filter vessel, and the vessels to the fifth vessel are respectively separated by the filter walls 12, 13, and 14 the heights of which are progressively decreased. The fifth vessel and the sixth vessel are separated by the filter wall 15 having the same height as the first filter wall 12, and the sixth vessel and an outlet 10 are separated by an activated carbon filter wall 16. Accordingly, even when the preceding filter is clogged, the liq. overflows into the succeeding vessel. As a result, the oil is mostly removed by the respective filter walls.
