directing radiation having a first wavelength and radiation having a second wavelength through a blood sample; detecting the radiation at the first wavelength and the radiation at the second wavelength after passing through the blood sample; determining a ratio of the detected radiation at the first wavelength to the detected radiation at the second wavelength; and determining a concentration of total hemoglobin in the blood sample based on the ratio. |
