Disclosed is technology relating to methods and devices for determining a time to execute maintenance events. The technology includes a step of determining a first cost of false positives and a first cost of true positives. A receive operating characteristic (ROC) of a prediction model is determined for the generation of an event. A survival function and a prediction horizontal line are generated from the prediction model for the generation of the event. An operating area of the ROC is determined based on first costs and second costs. A threshold value is determined from the ROC and applied to the survival function and the prediction horizontal line. A maintenance event is triggered based on the threshold value. |
