SOLUTION: A solid wire for submerged arc welding has a composition containing, with respect to the whole mass of the wire, C: 0.08-0.20 mass%, Si: 0.05-0.50 mass%, Mn: 1.50-3.00 mass%, Ni: 1.00-1.95 mass%, Cr: 0.5-1.5 mass% and Mo: 0.10-0.45 mass%, under the regulation of P: 0.015 mass% or less and S: 0.015 mass% or less, with the residue comprising Fe and inevitable impurities. !
