A display device is disclosed. The display device comprises: a panel unit for including sub-pixels of R (Red), G (Green) and W (White); a backlight unit for providing backlight to the panel unit by using at least one of a white light source and a blue light source; an image processing unit for converting image data to sub-frame data of R (Red), G (Green) and B (Blue); a panel drive unit for turning on the sub-pixels of R, G, and W corresponding to the sub-frame data of R, G and B, respectively; a backlight drive unit for driving the backlight unit; and a control unit for turning on the sub-pixel of W and adjusting a brightness of a white light source as much as the luminance value expressed by the sub-frame data of R, G and B and then providing to the panel drive unit and for turning on sub-pixels corresponding to remaining sub-frame data, except for the brightness value, and adjusting at least one brightness among a white light source and a blue light source and then providing thereof to the panel unit. According to various embodiments of the present as described above, it is possible to solve a color deterioration problem due to the characteristic difference between light sources while improving a luminance by individually controlling a white light source and a blue light source, and also, it is possible to operate in a transparent mode. |
