<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that can reduce the amount of non-conversion light that returns from a wavelength conversion element to a light source to project brighter images.SOLUTION: A light source device includes a fluorescent material 5 that converts p-polarized light B1p into fluorescent light RG5 having a different wavelength from that of the p-polarized light B1p, and emits the RG5 and non-conversion light having the same wavelength as that of the p-polarized light B1p. The light source device further includes a polarizing plate 2 that has a property to guide, from among the p-polarized light B1p, p-polarized light to the fluorescent material 5 and suppress, from among the non-conversion light, s-polarized light from traveling toward the light source 1. The light source device further includes a mirror 3 that has a property to guide the p-polarized light B1p to the fluorescent material 5 and guide the fluorescent light RG5 to a direction different from the light source 1.</p> |
