摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide production of a flexible water-dispersible fiber from sulfopolyester, which especially exhibits appropriate tensile strength, absorptivity, flexibility, and cloth-binding property upon exposure to human bodily fluids.SOLUTION: Disclosed are a manufacturing method of a multicomponent fiber from a blend of a sulfopolyester with a water non-dispersible polymer, and a method of manufacturing a microdenier fiber by drawing this multicomponent fiber (the denier is about less than 6 on spinning, the water-dispersible sulfopolyester shows a melt viscosity of less than 12,000 poises when measured at 240°C and a strain rate of 1 rad/sec., and the sulfopolyester contains about less than 25 mol% of at least one kind of sulfomonomer residues based on the total moles of diacid or diol residues) at a relatively fast rate (for example, at a rate of about 2000 m/min. or more) and by contacting with water to remove the sulfopolyester.
